We are started day 23 this morning...
one chick has hatched, early this morning we think..
10 more eggs in there, some seem to move a little (although I feel like my eyes are palying tricks on me since we watch so much)

Doing this with my 2nd grade class as a life cycle project

temp has been steady reading 99.6 throughout
humidity 44% first 18 days
66% during lockdown
We are using a Brinsea Octagon Advance with humidity pump

local eggs from a farmer...

Any advice????

Never done one but have read about it a bit,, what do you do?
Should I do one?

VERY NEW AT THIS but really hoping for a few more chicks

Thanks

The float test that you are talking about is something you do just before throwing the eggs out. You float them in some water an see if any twitch or show signs of still being alive.

Edited to add- If the first one hatched this morning your thermometer is probably wrong an the rest should hatch over the next 2 or 3 days.

Yes if they move you put them back in. Make sure your water is as close to 100 as possible so you dont shock them. There are detailed instructions on here somewhere! Good luck! Terri O

Okay../..
did the float test in 99.9/100.1 degrees water
all of them were low floaters....???? (which on that sticky says they are all developed viable eggs)
Now what???
Day 25.. .....
2 chicks hatched on day 23 and that is it
temp 99.6
humidity 66%

I am stumped... I guess I will wait until tomorrow and then remove them all

Not sure if any more will make it

is there anything else I can do to get them going??
Can you start a pip for them?

Dont peep the eggs its a horrible idea. They may not be ready to hatch. Good luck with anymore hatching.
