What is a pullet?

Hullo, I'm new here, reading lots of threads and I keep coming across mentions of pullets but no idea what they are??
Can someone explain please? TIA

A pullet is a female chicken not yet mature. They become hens at one year old.

Same with the boys, he's a cockerel until one year then he becomes a rooster.

A pullet, is a female chicken under a year of age.

A pullet is a female chicken that is under a year of age. Anything over a year of age is considered a laying hen or just a hen.
Now a cockerel is a male chicken that is under a year of age. Anything over a year of age is considered a rooster.
