Eli, I imagine standard width - 4 ft high - would be high enough as chickens don't fly that often. But you want to plan for air strikes and cover the top. If c-wire is too expensive, you can just weave twine across the top to prevent the hawks/crows
A run is what you get putting on your only pair of nylons right before a signaficant event. ie your wedding, a major presentation that your being honored at...you get the idea....
