what is a "wet bulb" reading?

We have normal F and C thermometers... is this "wet bulb"???

I am confused. Have bobwhite quail and it says 99-102 degrees but "wet bulb" reading should be only in the mid 80s??? How do I know!

Have Little Giant and they give two regular thermometers now - they said this is a new thing they are doing and got rid of old ones.

Wet bulb temperature is a combination of Dry bulb (regular thermometer) and % humidity. So 101F with 55% humidity is 86.2F wet bulb.

You can buy a special thermometer with a water wick to read the wet bulb temperature.

A wet bulb thermometer is just a thermometer, no different than any other. The difference is that if you put a wet cloth, rag, wick on it the temperature will read lower. For example if you wet your arm and blow on it the spot that is wet is much cooler. That wet evaporative temp is what the wet bulb thermometer is reading, There are charts (google) that will give you the RH based on the differnence betweent the wet and dry bulb reading.

Google wet bulb and you will get a lot of information.
