what is an average age for laying? for sex-links and BO?

I think I've read that sex-links layer sooner than the BO's.... but what is an average start date for the sex-links? I have Cinnamon Queens... And what is the average for Buff Orpingtons?

My BO's started laying at 17 weeks; I can't remember when our sex links started but I believe it was probably between 17-20 weeks.

oh wow! really? thats nuts! thats like 3 weeks from now... I can't believe they'd be capable of laying eggs in just 3 weeks... not to say that they WILL lay eggs then, but still!

do I need to purchase laying pellets now? oyster shells?
