What is "animal protein"??

Our dry cat food is little round balls, like small gravel. Some people like to supplement with a little cat food, some people don't. Some people go with a little gamebird or grower feed, during a molt, to add more protein. Some people don't. I feel like I'm not being helpful here.

What about the nonedible parts of meat like tendons or other such things, all ground up? I would imagine hunters (deer season's coming!), fish shops and butchers have plenty of scrap. I don't really understand why feeding meat is bad but "animal protein" and "meat meal" in commercial food is good.

They also banned the use of poultry bedding in ruminant feed (yes they used poultry bedding in cattle feed) which leads me to believe it is legal to feed poultry animal by-products. For some they want to supplement their feed with more animal protein and so they are supplementing their feeding with bugs, worms, cooked eggs, fish, meal-worms, even maggots and animal carcasas. I would also venture to guess cat and dog food would also provide adequate supplement.

The feed I buy says Ruminant and Bone Meal Free. It also says Porcine products.

I agree with throwing out some cat food for them, but I would stick to dry kibble not wet

The crop will be able to grind the dry stuff no problem
