What is the best age for a chicken to show in a poultry event or fair?

Most birds are in their prime around 7-10 months old. At this age, they almost always have all their feathers in and have filled out nicely. Many can be shown at a younger age (5 months), but may not be quite perfect or mature. Chickens can be shown for several years and still be competetive, though many will lose condition and their youthful appearance.
