What is best to store feed in and keep rodents out??

Hi All,

I am new to chickens I am currently working
on getting the Pen outside ready for them to move in.
I am wondering what do other chicken keepers use to keep the feed in
and keep the rodents out?

I plan on keeping the feed in the shed away from the coop as to not attract rodents to the coop.
But the bags they would chew through in no time. It is not uncommon for mice to get into our shed.

We live out in the country so rodents are plentiful, any suggestions would be great.

I store mine in big metal trash cans.

I will chime in with metal trash cans as well. I use them for my horse feed too.

What size works best? So far I have found a 6G, 10G, 20G and 31G. any opinions?

Metal trash cans from Home Depot. 7 of them!

I keep them on pallets in the garage to prevent moisture. They are as dry as a bone inside.

I use those cooler cubes with wheels, it holds about 70lbs of feed and the lid has a gasket that seals tight, it has worked great for me!

Mine I would guess are 31 gallon...they are large enough to fit a 50 lb bag of sunflower seeds in with some room left over for a 50lb bag of wheat (smaller bag). I would say get the largest you can...so you can stock up if you want.
