What is causing this feather loss?

So this is one of three chickens I got as chicks this year. To keep them away from a real mean older hen the 3 new ones have been in a large dog crane in the day and since that's not predator proof, a large Rubbermaid tub/brat night. night.

The ends of the feathers look broken off so I think rubbing them on something of the other birds picking on her.
