Our Delaware has layed some eggs with minor blood streaks on the outside but now the blood is coming out her vent. Help, what should I do? What does it mean? The blood is a goowey consistency, so maybe in the drying process?
It is possible that an egg broke inside of her, that is not good. The blood streaks on eggs is somewhat common. You may have to put her out of her suffering.
Maybe start by giving her a warm soak and getting her really cleaned up so you can get a good look and see what could be happening and if it is internal or a problem with the vent itself. Search internal laying on the threads to see what to do from there (I don't have experience with that exact problem).
gosh how did it look after her bath? did you feel for shells do you think something ruptured inside? keep us posted please. is she still bleeding after the warm bath. I really am sorry. hopefully the bath helps ! good luck
Here is the update. After a warm bath she seemed to get better, eating and drinking and flying up onto the roost. She was doing fine the next day too. Then yesterday I noticed blood again. Separated her for another bath and noticed what appeared to be her insides hanging out. She was put to rest last night.
We added to our flock a new Rhode Island Red chick and a Golden Sexlink chick today.
