Saturday evening our Pekin, Lemon, was limping. The next morning she couldn't take more than a few steps at a time and would then lay down. By Sunday evening she wouldn't walk at all unless we moved her into the shade and she'd readjust a bit but used mostly her wings for support.:( she has angel wing in the left wing and is favoring her right foot. It APPEARS her dewclaw is missing. I checked the bottom of her feet but they seem to look ok. We did the Epsom salt soak, dry, bacitracin, and wrapped it but if course that didn't last. She's still not walking on it though. At all. Then I noticed our other Pekin, Shandy, has some torn webbing. What is going on?! We have a small garden pond (its slightly elevated and they do have to work in order to get in and out of it) that's easy to look through and there aren't any turtles. They have free rein of a grassy half acre and the coop they sleep in has 4 or 5 inches of hay that we change and/or add to pretty regularly. I don't know where they may have gotten their injuries and if its just the dewclaw, will bag balm work to put on it? How long before she'll start putting weight back on that foot?

For treating her, keep up with the Epsom salts once or twice a day for a few more days.

How old is she? Feed? Possible niacin deficiency? Chicken starter without supplemental niacin can cause problems.

But if she's missing her halux - dew claw - then she could be in some pain, even have a little infection. So I would dab it with triple antibiotic ointment (no painkiller - toxic) three times a day. Just wipe it on. It will wipe off after a while, but especially do that at night. And keep an eye on it.

Fix the access to the pond. A ramp going in, a ramp going out. Pekins can injure their legs relatively easily.

If the pond is not deep enough to float in, I would give them bathtime at least once a day, lukewarm water they can float in to take weight off the feet for a while, improve circulation and build muscle strength.
