what is going on!!!

so my broody hen 21 day was yesterday.. a couple hours ago i saw a peep and ran to the feed store. when i came back i lifted the hen up and there was a deed chick!!!! what is going on!!! how could this happen????? and the other egg that was peeping she picked at it in front of me and blood came out!!! what should i do im freaking out and so upset!!!

Well i would get the other egg away from her.. do you have an incubator all set up and ready? She might do ok with the other chick.. but seeing as how she must have killed one and pecked the other i would take all other eggs out from under her.

i dont have a incubator! i didnt think i would need it. i figured she would do a better job.

can u bring her inside and make a brooder box and when the chicks hatch I would take them from her and raise them yourself I had a mama who did this its scary but you can do it

you think shes killing them? intentionally? the baby chick was fine no bleeding or anything? i wanted to imagine she accidently stepped on him or something..

No blood maybe she did squish it?? New moms sometimes just dont know what to do?? How do you have her all byherself? You said she pecked the other egg and blood came out?

yeah she's in a pretty big pen all by herself in her nest. When i picked her up to check the rest of the eggs, once i set her down she scooped the eggs back under her and one that appered to be peeping.. she pecked at it in the peep hole and red liquid came out, it looked a lot like blood.

I would beg and borrow a bator or atempt to make a makeshift bator. even a heat lamp over a box with the eggs resting in warm damp towls might do. pecking at anything that moves or pips is bad. imo I wouldnt trust her with the rest.

well i just left them to her i left pretty early This morning ill be back home around 4:30 and ill post if anything wish me luck! please!!
