What is good head hen behavior?

I would give it some time, with everyone coming into lay, that can be part of this, but if it doesn't settle down, I would move her on. Sometimes you get a bird that just doesn't fit in the flock. I like it best, when I am not quite sure WHO is the top bird... that is a peaceful flock.

I haven’t been on this site in awhile and noticed some recent new replies to this thread. It’s been six + months since I posted my original questions, so thought I’d follow up. I took the advice and gave them a chance to mature. All of my chickens are a year old now and are doing very well together. Goldie has mellowed out and Rooster does his job to break up any scuffles if they occur. All is well!! :yesss:
