What is growing on the side of her mouth?

 Well, my deciphering ring is broken, so I didn't catch all of that previous post.

I do understand this one though! I'm glad you were able to see a vet. Did they give Metronidazole for treating the canker or something else? Always learning what treatments vets prescribe.
Do some research about Canker and speak with your vet as well, but Canker is contagious. It can be spread through shared water/feed stations, etc. Even if only one bird has symptoms, most do go ahead and treat the flock's water with Acidified Copper Sulfate for 3 days each month as a preventative treatment to keep the canker from spreading.

Yes they did give her Metronidazole. She's in isolation being a house chicken for now. Vet said it was early in the infection so fingers crossed she'll be fine. After a check on the flock tonight it looks like no one else is showing any signs. But they will be getting copper cocktails anyway just to be safe. The vet didn't mention it, but I have read it several times so I'm going ahead with it. Thank you for your help and concern

I'd be very interested in an update on this thread - how did / is she doing?

In my little flock we have a 10-month Scots Grey with an odourless hard growth on her beak incorporating the left side of her face. For some days I've been searching for a way to help her.

Although there's a great many "Help, my chicken's got a lump" posts, no-one ever seems to follow through with an update on a diagnosis or how a given treatment has worked.

In this case, I'm particularly keen to know if metronidazole was effective.

Please bear in mind that keeping your fellow keepers informed, even with sad news, is a real contribution.

Hi @Armac :frow Welcome to BYC

Thank you for posting. It looks like @Ironduccle is still active, so hopefully he will see your post and give us an update.

In the meantime, do you have any photos of your pullet you wish to share?

It was! She is back to her old self and the growth has gone away. She was on the meds for 20 days. We think she got canker from exposure to our son's pet doves which the chicken likes to visit. Left to her own devices She always seems to end up near them. Good luck with your birds.

It’s a worrying lump, quite firm and fairly solidly attached. Looks like a tumour, but she’s young for that
My best guess is it’s been an infection which is now got some kind of reaction to it.
She’s not unduly distressed, but can’t fully close her break now.
Her physical condition is fairly good, and the rest of her hatchlings are coming into lay now.

Can you explain a bit more for the readers (and me).
The meds for 20 days, was that Metronidazole?
Did you use the Acidified Copper Sulfate too?
Just clarify your course of treatment, so everyone is on the same page. Having someone follow up with what they did is extremely helpful to everyone that may be looking through threads for information.

Thank you!

And! I'm so glad to hear she has recovered, that is very good news!:)
