What is happening to my tomatoes

Caught this terror today. Fed him to my chickens but he already did a lot of damage. View attachment 2272630View attachment 2272632

I found one on my potatoes plant. It ate the plant. I was too scared to feed it to the chickens. That thing was huge

Oh my.

We don't get things like that here.
In fact, I've only seen about one caterpillar in 5 years. And it was tiny.

Main problem for us are rooks & jackdaws.
They take the gooseberries and other fruit right off the plant. Thought someone had been at them. Nope.

First time I seen it. I googled it and it says tomatoes

It was awful. I put on gloves and dropped it twice on the way to the coop because I couldn’t bring myself to get a good hold on it. The chickens were happy!

Actually petsmart is selling those things as 10.00 for 4 hornworms meanwhile we can just take them off and feed em to our chickens for free

I saw that yesterday online. I wasted some good protein by not feeding it to the chickens. Now I know if I come across another one in the future
