A steady visitor to our yard to visit out flock through the fence. I think he's a mix but of what. Can anyone tell me? He's very sweet.

crossbreed - looks like some predator took out his tail feathers. Poor guy, obviously he need a good home.

I think he's starting to molt.

Mixed bred. Likely some heavy Barred Rock influence though. I'd say he's molting, its that time of year.
