What is "mareks" disease

Curious as to what the disease is and when ordering poultry, to have them vaccinated for it. it's not very much more to have it done so is it that important??

Mareks is a type of chicken cancer per say. It creates tumors inside the body in some forms, or can affect the eyes etc. It would be worth vaccinating...but remember it only prevents tumors from forming that kill the bird, not really the illness itself and any bird you bring in would need to be vaccinated from then on as well.

Yes, vaccinate. I've lost almost 20 birds in the past few years.
