Just a couple questions. These 2 kids came from Tractor Supply and are about 3 1/2 months old. My first question is what do you think Brave Sir Robin is ? (yes, he is brave run away, run away !) I wasn't sure if he would be a production red or what. . . I am not totally sure what hatchery my TSC got their chicks from. He is a total sweet heart right now, wants nothing more than to be held lol

My next question is pullet or roo. . . . my 3 1/2 month old what I think is a Jersey Giant has me stumped. I am leaning more towards girl since I have seen roos try and help it reproduce but I am new to chickens so would like any opinions

Thanks for any help! You all are great !!!

Woot ! I knew that Robin (the red one) was a roo, he decided to make his comb obviously roo from day 1 lol, just not sure what breed he is, not that it matters.

The black one has gone from making me think pullet to roo to pullet, back and forth for a while, I had basically decided Fezzick was probably a pullet but wanted conformation . . . . think she is a Black Jersey Giant . . . .

Thanks for the help !!! YAY

Not sure if that's a Jersey Giant or a Black Astralorp. I'm thinking pullet either way on that one.

Red roo, hmmm, what size in comparison to the other chickens? TSC, could be either a Rhode Island Red, or Production Red. Those I can't really tell the difference in unless they are side by side. Perhaps someone that knows more than I do will chime in.

jersey giants= yellow feet

and ur little red roo is dark enough to be a RIR. I mean production reds are lighter then that.

I knew it was some way to tell them apart! Thank you!!! So the black one is a BA pullet then, and the red roo is a RIR!

WOOHOO!!! Case solved.

The first one's a rooster, hatchery-quality Rhode Island Red.

The second one's a Black Jersey Giant pullet (if the bottoms of her feet are yellow).
