OK guys, I'm definitely a newbie but this is just bizarre. Can anyone shed some light on my rooster's behavior? The one thing different that has been going on is that I put some chicks in a crate inside the coop. By the way, if you can make up the size of these chicks do you all think I can have them loose with the rest of the flock? They hatched on Aug 5th and have been in the crate in the coop for like two weeks now.
Here is a video of my rooster in action and I'm also attaching some pictures of the chicks. TIA

He is trying to get his girls to lay in the nest box that he chose!;) Also you could probably let your chicks out with the rest of the flock soon.:D

He even lays on the floor sometimes making growling sounds when the girls are around and when I pick up the eggs he is making weird sounds lately as well. I think maybe having the chicks in the coop is awakening his paternal side 😁 oh my, I'm going to tell my husband to start preparing to make the coop bigger 🤣

He's a good boy!! He is trying to show the girls a good place to lay eggs.
I have one like that.

Secure the crate door so that the opening is large enough for the littles to get in but not the bigs. Then let them out to mingle.
Yours are so cute 😍
I will definitely will do that with the chicks, I saw one of my hens like bullying the chicks through the gate but I'm not sure if it is normal process of the pecking order or something else. I will have to keep everyone in the run for a week or two once I let the chicks mingle since I normally let the run open while my flock free range all day.
