What is my rooster doing?

When I walk out to check the food and water in my coop, my rooster will race me there, find a corner and either stick his nose or butt in the corner, crouch down really low, stop or scratch and make a growling noise. What is he doing?

My rooster does this too. He will hide in a bush and make low noises.

I think he is trying to tell the ladies he found a good nesting spot.

That makes a lot of sense! Thank you. I thought there was something wrong with my rooster
Thank you we had a hard time deciding which rooster we would keep out of our hatch but he is so unique and has a really cool personality.
