What is my rooster doing?

I got him a week ago and her yesterday. Don’t usually adopt chickens at that rate, but that’s just how it worked out. Well he walks right up to her today for the first time and just lays next to her and starts making this weird noise I’ve never heard a rooster make? (I’ve owned 4 roosters now.). Is this some sort of “hey baby, how you doin”? He’s been doing it for several minutes so far.

I have seen roosters do this in a nest box- like "Hey, I have found a place where you can lay eggs..." He thinks he is a hero...

It's the sound a rooster will make when pointing out what he thinks is a good nesting place.

My buff laced Brahma boy starting doing this where they lay in the feed bin and even say on eggs and got mad when we gathered them. I found this on google:

He's doing the im making a nest for you noise.
My guys do it while spinning and stomping in the nests to make comfy butt dents for the ladies.
It is adorable.

That would make sense, this literally happened a minute after my fiancé finished building the shelf (to add another waterer and feeder with having more chickens) ... My fiancé just now is like, “he’s gonna try to take credit for the new shelf I just built . Dammit. ” .
