what is my rooster doing?

my rooster will mock my hens when they are IN the laying box. he also mocks them when they come out but just curious why he mocks them when they are laying. they aren't saying anything so it's odd to me.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'mocking'. If you mean he's just raising a racket, chickens just do that at egg-laying time (though its usually the hens that announce egg laying for everyone).

He could also be complaining because while they're in the nesting box, he can't breed them.

My Roo will sing the egg song loud and proud when his hens are inside laying. When His girlfriend is nesting, he is extra loud!!!!
