What is my shy sweet Montgomery?

I have two BR hens around the same age and they have more barring...and yellow legs. They also are a bit different shape if that matters. She's pretty whatever she turns out to be.

I have a girl that looks like her, I think she is a silver cuckoo maran..

at first I was going to say BR pullet, here is a pic of mine, but I could be off....
mine has more barring....

I would say she is a silver cuckoo Marans (always has an 's'), and mine has laid dark brown eggs faithfully for two years now. Hatched out at least one of her eggs, and I may have another hen on the way

Doh, now I feel silly, I forgot to look at her legs. I looked at her a second time, and you all are right, she's a cuckoo. Luckily, the same principals are in effect, and a male would be much lighter than that pretty girl. Wow your eggs are going to be so pretty!

She looks more like a Cuckoo Marans pullet to me (very white legs).

I am jumping ship on my first weigh in, I didn't look close or long that time, but yeah, hubby is probably right. Don't ya hate when that happens?

Wow thanks everyone! Man, I really do hate it when he is right (which happens ALOT)

But, he did go on a quest to find a Marans (got the "s" in there!) so I am glad that is what she is. About half of our tiny 9-bird flock is not what we asked for, so I am happy this one is right!
