what is pinning feather on a bird

didn't know what other page to post this on so i thought this one would be as good as any so anyway sorry if this is a dumb question but i was curiuos what it means when you pin a chickens or a turkeys or a swans etc. wings i've heard of clipping but i just have never figured out what pinning the wings is

I wonder if you mean pinioning. It is the surgical removal of the tip or end of the wing, from the last joint out.
