Petunia, my boldest fawn/white runner has developed the habit of running around at bed time (pea time as they know it) or in the morning when I am filling feeders or pools, with her bill open making an excited short quack/chatting noise. It isn't a full quack more of a “qua qua qua” she seems happily excited.. but it’s hard to know. She is not so bold as to eat from my hand, but is genuinely happy to take peas around my feat. I will try to capture this on film, but it is tough to do.

So cute. You'll have to post a video. My Rouen hen makes those sort of chattery quacks, but my Welsh Harlequins never have. They are very spoiled and make loudmouth quacks when they want something. Sounds more like a honk than a quack to me. We joke that they're looking for Hank. Sometimes when they're being super mouthy, I shout out the window "Quiet down- Hank's not here!"
