I have a few splash Marans that are feather legged but wondering if she’s the same, just clean legged? Her legs are so much lighter than all my other chickens. 8 weeks old from Pet chicken rare assortment.

Yes they can have clean legs. The French lines have the feathered legs while the English lines are clean legged. Hatcheries are usually a jumbled mix of both lines so you can end up with either or.

Yes all the Marans I have are feathered! I just couldn’t tell if she was something different. I knew she wasn’t the same as my lavender Orps because their legs are so dark compared to hers. Do you think she’s also a Marans?

Perhaps an Orpington? You will know once she starts laying.
