WHAT is SPRING CLEANING on BYC ? ? ? ?

I was reading some old threads the other day and somebody said they had 10,000 posts until Spring Cleaning and then their count went way low.

What is Spring Cleaning? When does it happen ? ?

all these threads are saved to a database file... spring cleaning is basically when the mods trim down the size of the db by removing some of the old threads that are basically in the random ramblings area where nothing more than chit chat goes on.

when the admin decide that there are to many dormant threads or threads that have no real information.. (some of the game threads) they will delete them to keep things tidy and so free up some space
