What is that one lamp you can use that's better than a heat lamp?

I don't remember where I saw that lamp

lol whoops it's better than a regular heat lamp you can use it when you have chicks brooding too and the light can be like 4 inches above the chicks. And it's not hot to the touch either.

Are you thinking about ceramic "bulb" heaters that you screw into the same reflector that you can use a heat lamp with?


We use ceramic heaters in our chicken tractor because they are alot safer with chickens than are heat lamps.


In the two main henhouses, we use flat panel ceramic heaters. They, too, are alot safer than traditional chicken coop heating sources.

Don't try to touch a ceramic heat bulb, though. They definitely get blazing hot. A 60 watt ceramic bulb nearly started a fire in our house when the bulb came within 2 inches of a table top. Burned a ring in the table in less than 10 minutes.

The one that isn't hot to touch isn't really a heat lamp, but a brooder heater. The Brinsea Eco-Glow.
