lol whoops it's better than a regular heat lamp you can use it when you have chicks brooding too and the light can be like 4 inches above the chicks. And it's not hot to the touch either.
Don't try to touch a ceramic heat bulb, though. They definitely get blazing hot. A 60 watt ceramic bulb nearly started a fire in our house when the bulb came within 2 inches of a table top. Burned a ring in the table in less than 10 minutes.
