What is the best bedding for ducklings?

What is the best bedding for ducklings? I know pine shavings are good for chicks and I have them on hand but is there anything that won't get disgusting in 2 seconds?
Ducks sure are messy! Not sure any bedding, including old towels and puppy pee pads won't get disgusting in a short time. But the ducklings are worth it.

We used the pine shavings when are ducks were babies. I wouldn't do it again. LOL
Using a container like the one above for water does help keep things drier.

Enjoy your ducklings!

How many ducklings will you have? making waterers similar to this and putting it on a tray can really help contain some of the mess they will make. I found an old broiler pan at a thrift store to use and placed a puppy pee pad over it then put down the waterer. View attachment 3088840
Good idea- Miss Lydia: I've been trying to get hold of you for days. I've had some problems w/ducklings, but handled it myself.

I just use the pee pads or towels for the first few days and then I use pee pads with a thin layer of pine shavings on top to continue helping absorb moisture poo and stench until I get around to cleaning it again.
The thing is once they get a little bigger and start running around they poop it up so much they start slipping and sliding around in it. Shavings help with that.

I use pee pads for the first few days, then switch to large flake wood chips.
Keeping them in as big of a space possible is the most helpful, in my opinion.
Though they make a huge mess, it will be spread out over a big area which makes it much better to deal with, lol.
