I am also wanting to keep them for eggs? I am wanting three chickens, each one a different breed.

With three birds and each a different breed you'd not be breeding. For most the joy of standard bred birds is working with them over the generations to breed to that particular breeds standard of perfection. Showing besides hanging out for a weekend with a chicken crowd and viewing is seeing how your birds performed, talking chicken with other breeders and judges. You know, it's a hobby with a goal and national shows.

To show at local fairs almost anything can enter. My most local fair with animal barns and contests has really sunk in quality over just the last four years. Last year it was difficult to find an actual standard bred bird. Easter Eggers and other mixed birds were in the cages and I could only scratch my head at a few ribbons.

I would think that the best breed of chicken for you to show are the ones you like. No sense in showing chicken that you don't enjoy looking at. Look around at some in your community or poultry shows.

3 chickens of different breeds is going to take a lot of work. Gotta find good breeders of those breeds and see if they will sell 1 chicken for you to show.

If you were to get 3 birds of the same breed, seramas are very small and easy to show. I have been showing seramas for about 3 or 4 years now, and they are very light weight and docile. They are known as the world's smallest breed, and hens are usually only about 10 ounces. However, it is also important to find a breed that you enjoy and feel comfortable with.
