What is the best broody breed?

From my experience and what some say on BYC it's Buff Orpingtons. Others also say Silkies.

It can vary based on the individual but your almost guaranteed broodiness with silkies and game breeds. Other good broodies are cochins, orpingtons, and usually the more fluffy breeds.

Thank you all! I am worried about Silkies because of their size and my large breeds. Would they be ok bc I have some very large breeds.

I thought about Silkies first but then got to thinking of size. Maybe Cochins or Orpingtons would be best. What types of game breeds are broody?

Well my personal opinion is that with my year old Jersey Giants I have 2 Broodies 2 months in a row out of 10 hens (and one roo).... So pleasantly surprised with the Jersey Giants....

I've also had luck with Old English Games

Any cross of those mentioned works well to.
My two little bantam crosses ,one the silkie ee cross is on 8 or 9 eggs and the little game cross is on 10 eggs. They are LF eggs I put under them.

LF Cochins are great broodies. And they're BIG girls, you can stuff a bunch of eggs under them
