I think it also matters where you get your birds from. Obviously some birds will be nicer than others, in any breed. The more inbreeding there is, I suspect the worse the temperment would be (in people too! Lol). I have Cochins from 3 different places and mine are all wonderful. Course some are friendlier than others. My BO's, none are super friendly, though they are definitely calm. They are Bantam too. Another breed I like are Marans. I have a big ole gentle Silver Cuckoo Marans roo that is so good to his ladies, and so gentle with people, I just love him. I have more Marans chicks hatching now that I am hoping will be equally as sweet as he is. But every Marans I've met has been calm and gentle, so I know that despite the size, they are a good, calm bird. You'll probably never get any two people to fully agree on what breed is the best, because everyone has their own preferences and have had their own experiences. The only breed that I think I have to say I don't really care for are Black Sexlinks. I don't care for their temperment. And I didn't like Sebrights as much as I thought I would. I like them, they just aren't my favorite.
