Quail do really well on high protein feeds as in the wild they would eat a lot of bugs. Depending on what type of quail you have...... button quail should be on a non-medicated feed. Their bodies are to small to adjust to the medicated feed and can become sterile from the build up of medications. Different feeds can have different amounts but I'd steer clear if you have Chinese blue breasted "button" quail.

Barostoc does a game bird starter/grower/finisher mix... but they are Eastern States based. However apparently Pet Stock stores here in WA stores can get it in. So worth while checking if you have a PetStock store near you in SA.

My best advice for anyone in the US looking for quail feed is to go to www.purinamills.com and enter your zip, find a feed store that carries or will order their 30% protein "Game Bird Starter" and feed your cats "CAT FOOD"
(On a side note: I wish purinamills would come up with a totally different "ena" naming conviction for their game bird products so the chicken folks don't get confused.)
