When my girls aren't broody, the RIRs & Buff Orps lay huge eggs--for bantams--between 1.5 & 1.75 ounces. EEs lay slightly smaller eggs, but average 5-6 each week. Barred Rocks are in between in size, though they're not the layers the RIRs & Orps are.
Only downside of bantams, at least ours, is broodiness. From March through November, there's always someone, or 8 or 9, wanting to be a mama. Least broody of all our girls are the Orps; the most, the RIRs. Oh, well, gives me an excuse to have more chickens.

Soon to go online are Buff Brahmas & a new crop of EEs & mixed breeds, the latter babies of our own flock. I'm especially hoping for an olive egger from the EE (hen) x Orp (roo) pullet. And the eggs from Red Rock (BR hen x RIR roo) should be very nice.
