Hi,

There are so many different chicken foods on the market. I am not sure what the best brand to feed my laying hens. I want to be organic as much as possible. Please share your thought. Thanks.

Just compare ingredient and nutrient labels, although I imagine most of them are nearly identical
Thank you for your comment. I am currently feed my hens with "Scratch and Peck Feeds" product http://www.scratchandpeck.com/products/sflayer, and wondering what other options out there that is popular and/or which food that the chicken are more prefer to eat one over the other.

I was using Organic Pride pellets, which the chickens loved, but just switched them to Scratch and Peck Free (soy and corn free) which they're eating with far less enthusiasm, lol. I plan to ferment the feed and hope that helps with its appeal. I'm thinking that they like the corn based food, so with no corn in the Scratch and Peck, it's less interesting to them (after all, who doesn't prefer sugar?) Just means they'll work harder at free ranging :)

Because being organic AND soy-free AND corn-free is important to me (I'm allergic to corn), Scratch and Peck is my favorite option. I also like how the food looks - like real, whole food and far less processed.

But I really think it depends on what is locally available to you, and at what price.

I have been feeding my 5 hens Blue Seal organic layer pellets. On the Blue Seal website if you type in your zip code it will tell you who is selling the product in your area.
