What is the best states economy wise?

You can forget about California too. No jobs that pay decent. Mostly all service jobs available at minimum wages. A lot of companies that do hire play the hours game. You may work 8 hrs one week and 24 the next. They do this because it save them on benefits and having to pay for workers comp. You can still get a decent job in the medical field but the pay rates have dropped quite a bit in the last 5 yrs. Everybody wants in the medical field so their job will not be shipped out of the country.

I have been looking into New Hampshire a lot lately. I have been there several times and it is beautiful. I am looking for a place with a lot of land in hopes to start a farm. Do you guys have any towns in particular that you would reccomend?

New hampshire is nice...tax free lots of cool lax rules. or vermont with the Hippies. LOL ive personally always wanted to go to Montana, but Oregon is now up there too from a visit this summer to Eugene

The economy on the coast seems to be doing okay. Eggs currently sell for $4-$6 a dozen. Housing is pricey.

We just moved to Oregon from PA this past summer.

We love it here. The BIG plus - our daughter (here for 10 years) & our grandbabies are here. It is absolutely beautiful. We live in the country next to a river between 2 small towns. What can I say? It does rain ALOT, but we won't be shoveling 3-4' of snow at a time this winter.

We bought our house here at a real bargain, you just have to look around. If you look at Portland, Salem, Eugene, etc housing prices are high. The property taxes are much lower than PA by almost 1/2. Plus there is no local income tax, occupation tax or sales tax.

Don't get me wrong, I loved PA, it's a beautiful state & that's where I was born & raised, but the taxes were killing us. PA taxes=state income tax 3.7% on gross income (not Fed wage), local tax 1.5% on gross, sales tax 6%, school tax, town & county tax, & occupation tax (tax based on what you do for a living & that you have a job...no kidding). And my hubby had to drive 1 hour each way to NY state for his job (gas was killing us too.) So we had to pay NYS taxes too.

I know that you will find the perfect place for you. We asked the LORD to show us where to go & He found us this place...absolutely perfect!!!
