What is the Best Substrate (bedding)?

I need a bedding that i can use vigorously that wont tear up my show chickens feathered feet ect. Anyone?

If wood shavings are to corse you might try sawdust.

I dont know about sand. Have you tryed it? I just dont know if it will shred the feet feathers. And wood shaveings sounds good. Do you know how much it costs?Thank you.

i don't raise chickens but it's never been a problem for any of my ducks. I can find bags for about 3 dollars around her and usually use a few bags depending on the pen size.
