What is the best tasting meat chicken?

I have had store bought cornish before and really loved them. We have just been eating RIR roosters and they are good but I was wanting to try more if there was any difference. My husband says they all taste like chicken too LOL I am getting some cornish for raising now.

Most, if not all, of the supermarket chickens are Cornish Rock crosses, (not what you would get if you crossed a Cornish and a Rock, BTW) you'll never see purebred standard Cornish at the grocery store, hen or otherwise. The difference between the so-called Cornish hens, fryers, and roasters, is how old they are. The fryers are usually 6 weeks old. The Cornish hens are younger. The roasters are a little older, not much, maybe 8-10 weeks.

I'm new to the forum and am looking at the JG for our meat birds. Been reading that they are slow to "mature". Does that mean for butchering also or just takes longer for hens to reach laying age?

Thanks
