What is the best waterer for ducks

Hey this for sure is a real problem! My ducks will play in ANY water they find even thought they have a pool.
As for the feed water, I wrapped a large 4 inch deep horse feed pan with 1/4 inch hard wear cloth and and put the water dispenser on top of that. It worked! I had way less spillage and 3/4's of the pen stayed dry. They still play there but the splashed water will fall into the feeder dish and then I just lift that out and spill out the mess.
I got the feeder dish a tractor supply for around $8.00 and it has saved me well over that in bedding and work, well worth it.
I fixed the hard wear cloth around the dish and fastened it to itself on the underside with tie straps. That way they could stand on it (and they did) and it would not give way, also it made sure there were no sharp pointy edged from the hard wear cloth they might get hurt on.

We live in a cold climate so we don't use anything plastic/easily breakable when things freeze or when trying to get ice out of the containers. They started off on normal chicken waterers are ducklings but when they grew up we bought some rubber pails from Knight's Farm Supply (they're fairly cheap). It's about a 3 gallon size, has a handle, and is very durable. (Here's a stock picture: http://www.enasco.com/prod/images/products/8E/VC126871l.jpg )

It's great, because water takes longer to freeze, and if it is frozen, you can beat the thing silly against a tree and break the ice out without damaging the pail. They're tall enough to dip their entire head (and most of their neck) in the pail and heavy enough they won't knock it over easily.

Great advise I love my rubber bowls, but if you have electric close by why not heated buckets. They have a thermostat so they only come on when temps get 35 and below. I love them and hope I never have to go back to reg buckets in winter Been there done that.

So forgive the poo, but I stole this idea from another member. Top half of an old dog crate, or an old cake pan to set the water in. Keeps the water in one area. I line mine with peepads (I buy the ones for humans as they're larger and cheaper) to absorb whatever spills and keeps their bedding fresh
