Had a little suprise in the nest box when i checked for eggs!
Will moth balls be okay to throw under and around the coop? It wont repel the chickens too? Any other advice would be great. I have a 19 month old little boy who likes to check the eggs and dont wont him finding one of these.

Yuck!!!! I also had a rat snake issue. We drove it several miles away to the woods after it visited our coop 4times in 4days!!!! No one in my family wanted to kill it. We put moth balls under our shed which shares a wall with the coop. (chickens can't get to them.) we also put them around the backside of our fence which backs up to the woods. No more snakes, but we know they can come back because of the woods and creek so close by. Just warn your son to be watchful. Those rat/chicken snakes look scary, but are harmless. I just wish they would eat the rats and mice and leave the chicken eggs for us!!! Good luck.
