I never stops to be amazed how big is the different between the color and the taste of an egg you raised yourself and the one you have purchased in the supermarket! The pics speaks about themselves !

The orange eggs are from my chickens and yellowish egg is from the supermarket. The taste is incredible! It's one of the foods that you "feel" that it is good for you.

Wow, I have never seen yolks that orange before.
What are you feeding your hens?

They get twice a day fermented layer feed, which I sprinkle on 1 teaspoon of very hot chili powder+2 teaspoon of sweet paprika. In the morning I shred for them vegetables sorted by color:green-Kale, Zukini, Cucumber,Lattice. Orange- carrot, sweet potato, pumpkin. Red- red pepper, tomato and on them I sprinkle 2 tablespoon of very hot chili flakes. As a treat thy receive once a day shredded cheese. And they free range in my yard during the day. (The hot chili have Capsaicin that is a very good worms preventer)

I bet it is the paprika that helps with the dark color.  I bet the eggs are very tasty.
Those are some very spoiled chickens, lol!

I always tell my wife that the our chickens lives actually in a 5+stars hotel! But you must remember that as high the satisfaction and wellbeing of your chicken is, the low is the stress they feel. and when the stress levels are low you don't have to deal with diseases and outer problems. And of course the productivity and the quality of the eggs are wonderful. About the taste its not less then phenomenal! When I compare the taste of this eggs to the ones I use to buy from the supermarket I can say that eating supermarket eggs is just like eating a peace of cardboard!

Forget Hot Tamales, that's some spicy food you give your hens and a lot of Vitamins from the variety of foods you give them! I find it quite interesting to see the different foods that people feed their poultry or chickens. Have you tried Eggplant yet? Does that count as a purple food (just kidding)? I'm rather surprised that they eat all that pepper via seeds and Paparika. Is it Hungarian Paparika? I have never seen eggs that orange before, even from some chickens in my area that I bought eggs from,( the owners not the chickens that is!). Thanks for the demo!

Hi again! Shabbat Shalom! Where do you get fermented layer feed? Is that something that you know about being a Zoologist or ? Is that an Israeli feed product or an International Product like Purina Brand. Oh by the way, I did put a lip or rim on the inside part of my nesting boxes this morning. I cut the wood a little bit short but no big deal. We were afraid that nailing it, the wood onto the separators would split them so I brainstormed after having a good nights sleep and used the glue that I use in my Mosaic projects. Of course Red/Rhonda had to check out what I was doing. I sure hope you are right about my girls!

P.S.

What are you looking at? Can't you seen I'm preening here?

Marlene Dietrich giving me the eye! This is her fluffy butt or rump. She still has a lot of fluffy feathers vs. Hard feathers back there.

I'm wondering if here eggs will be as colorful as she is. She was sold as an EE.
