I just received my new Hova Bator 1588 and my hydgrometor reads 99 degrees 53% humidity. Is this the right numbers to start with?

Thank you,

Roxanne

Well what are you hatching hon?

Our duck eggs have to be at 99.5 degrees with 65% to 70% humidity, but chicken eggs don't need as much humidity. So knowing what you are hatching will help us determin what temp and humidity you need.

I would say your current humidity is fine. We usually ran ours from 45% to 50% on day 1-18 without 1588, and the chicks were just fine. (Marans and Ameraucanas)

I am new to the chicken hatching thing. We started out with 12 eggs and have lost 3 to bacteria. How do I know what the humidity is at in my bator? I only have a thermometer to measure the temp. Can anyone tell me what I need and where I can get it?
Thanks!
Tatia

My best hatch was a dry hatch.

Day 1-18 30%-35% humidity
Lockdown 65% humidity.

41 of 48 hatched at lockdown.
