What is the earliest I can move my chicks to the coop?

When my chicks outgrew their brooder, and it was still too cold to put them outside, I just put an addition on their brooder. My chicks were in large cardboard boxes so this was easy to do by connecting another box on the end of the first one and then cutting out a "door" between the 2 boxes. they loved their addition.

As for when they will be able to get out....it will be soon

If you have an extra window screen hanging around you could put that over the top to keep them in.

If y'all don't mind me poppin in on this thread I have a simular situation. We have two that are ready to go now...about six weeks and nearly fully feathered. Then we have two in them middle...about four weeks...and then two babies about a week old. We're in California so it's mild but it's rainy and cold right now (for CA that is). If I put the four and six weekers out during the day and then put them in the brooder with the little ones at night will that keep them familiar with each other so that when the little ones catch up they can all go out together? Right now they are together in the brooder.

Our month old chicks are in their brooder now and will be going outside for daytime next week as long as the weather permits (and the coop is DONE). But, for inside and to keep them in the brooder, we just use some plastic garden fencing we use to keep the bunnies out of our garden. It works great and keeps them safe (out of the dog's mouth).
