What is the Golden and Silver Sebright's personality?

I think I might reconsider getting 10 Silkies rather than 7 Silkies and 3 Sebrights!!! lol What do you think?????

Well, Sebrights are such pretty birds. Just adorable. And they're good layers, too. Silkies are.... not my cup of tea. If I was forced to buy straight run banties again, I would choose Sebrights over Silkies. < *shuddering* > At least Sebrights look like small, sleek chickens.

I would get 6 silkies and 4 Sebrights. I love the look of my sebrights and more people ask about them first than the silkies. I like them both equally, but I am a parent and cannot play favs...right...lol

That is very good advice, but I am unsure of how many roos I may get. Do you think that I will get half and half with hens and roos?

I would love to get just one-two roo!s!!! Just so I can breed them!!!!!!

maybe you should order all pullets...then get a Show Quality/Breeder Quality roo from someone...I would get from a breeder if you want to breed...just my opinion

Unfortunately, the hatchery only offers straight run, but if they offered females, I would definitely would go for that.

Did you go on those breeds thread and ask an open ended question of 'Who has baby chicks I could get?' or maybe even 6-8 week olds. You could al least get a better quality roo that way for sure. Then order your others from someone if they have them or do the hatchery thing. Then cull, cull and cull some more. I prefer to hatch myself...so maybe you could order some eggs from someone on here. Maybe even check with a classroom teacher at the school. Saying that if you get the eggs they can incubate for the classroom project, but you get the chicks. Plus you could provide the feed...it could be a win win situation...worth a try.
