I have a group of six hens and one( I am not sure who) is practically de-scalping my baby chicks. This started a little over a week ago, went out at dusk to shut the coop up and found one of my pullets with a gaping hole in from the top of the skull to the base of the neck. I was able to save that chick but just found another pullet with the same exact wound dead. I have never had this happen every until I got this particular breed. Any one have any clues why the sudden aggression towards the chicks ( they have been in with the hens for about a month and other than the first chase/ peck its been peaceful)? I am at a loss.
