Hmm, thinking about mother nature. She incubates eggs on their side yet we put them on end in an egg turner. She hatches eggs on their side yet we put them on end in cartons for lockdown. We dry incubate at 35% but what is the humidity under a hen? during incubation and 'lockdown'. The egg turner is convenient and seems to not be a threat. Egg cartons at lock down make sense to keep hatched chicks from rolling the others around since that probably does not occur under the hen. Has anyone done an experiment with two incubators, one au natural and the other with turners and cartons and 35% humidity? Mostly want to know if anyone knows the humidity under the hen. I've heard she actually wets herself with water when she hears peeps! to increase the humidity. Is that true? and to what percentage humidity does she make it? any variations?
