There are several things that would work for you. I raise several of the bantam breeds and most are extremely friendly. Probably my quietest overall are the Australian Spotteds. A close second would be Miniature Appleyards and Miniature Overbergs. All three breeds are quiet, calm, and friendly. I don't raise Silkies, but I'm sure they are similar since they were developed from the same breeds. Mallards can be great too, but can be louder than the others. I also raised Black East Indies, but never liked their temperaments as much as the other bantams. For what you are looking for, I think the Aussie Spots, and Mini Appleyards and Overbergs are your best bet (don't think anyone in Canada has Mini Overbergs though).

I think the Holderread's will ship to Canada as well. If I remember correctly you have to pick the birds up at the nearest US post office and drive them into Canada yourself. Definitely try Josh though as well. He raises several varieties of bantams.
