I have read in different places where the correct size for a chicken house pop door is 9X12, but that looks small to me. My chicks are only 5 weeks old now and they are about 6 inches wide and 10 inches tall. Got my coop up, just finishing some painting and getting ready to cut in the pop door. What does everyone here recommend?

Mine are about 9x10", and I have large birds. They duck their heads, and I prefer to have as little a heat leak in Winter as possible. In Summer the 6' double people-door is wide open, as well as the 2 pops, to connect the people yard and 2 runs.

Quote:Renee, are you saying your pop door is 9X10 or your birds are that tall? That just sounds small to me for a pop door! [IMG]

I have large RIR hens and my pop door if I remember correctly is 12x12. Perfect for them.
