We saved it from being crushed by cars last week. We think it’s a she but uncertain what breed it is.

It chips very loudly and is very attached to humans. We tried releasing back to the wild but it follows any humans and hence we decided to keep it as a pet.

How should we keep it from chipping so loudly? We gave it plenty of fresh water and chicken feed.

Is it around 5 to 6 weeks old? So many questions and this is our first time raising a chick….

Looks like a easter egger/barn yard mix. Chickens are social animals and crave to be in a group so I would try a stuff animal to help calm her. Yes it is common for a single chick to bond to humans if there no other chickens around and view us as their flock mates.

Looking at the comb and legs I am definitely inclined to say Hen.

She's so pretty, some grey legged breed possibly mixed with golden laced Wyandotte. How is she doing? You've got her on chick feed? I've been trying to think about what I'd do if I had only 1 chick. Knowing they need a flock I'd either get 2 female chicks, embrace having a small flock and look forward to fresh eggs or I'd put out an add and make sure she get's a good home where they will integrate her properly with an existing flock. This time of year many people are adding chicks so you could find someone who has same age chicks if you're not up to doing it yourself. Alone is a sad option unless you have other bird species/ducks?

Thanks SandyRiverChick

We live in a small , sunny country Singapore, where most people do not keep chickens as pets. Hence reaching out to families who have a flock and willing to keep her is an issue.

This poor chick should be from the park, somehow wondered off from her siblings and family. there are a number of wild boars, stray dogs that live in that park too. Our main worry is that she might that fall prey to these predators.

My mum suggested looking for her family by combing through the park again. We did that last week but she is seems more keen in following us than engaging with the other chickens.

Sounds like she's imprinted on humans. As to breed, who knows? Your responsibility now is to take care of her until you find a suitable home. She does appear to be a pullet which is a plus. I've been in similar situations and know placing a pullet is much easier than placing a rooster in a home. Keep searching and contact as many people as you can and you may eventually place her in a perfect home. Good luck!
